Following the USC Emeriti Center College’s 2013 Fall course on jazz and swing, this multi-media presentation is filled with musical examples, rare photos, film clips, humorous stories, and live demonstrations that stimulate, educate and entertain. Join us for entirely new lectures on Glenn Miller: Icon of the Swing Era; Nat King Cole and Friend; How to Sing Jazz and Swing: Why Singers Do What They Do; Big Band Stars of Jazz and Swing: Gene Krupa & Lionel Hampton; Peggy Lee and Friends; and Frank Sinatra and the Rat Pack. This 6-week course will be taught by Professor Dr. Thom David Mason, Professor of Jazz Studies at the Department at the Thornton School of Music, University of SouthernCalifornia.
