Event Details

Art In Our Library is pleased to host a live drawing session with artist Janelle Carbajal. Janelle Carbajal will demonstrate how to and then invite the audience to participate if they wish. She will be accompanied by a human model.

Stay for a reception for her show, Excerpts, immediately following the program.

Excerpts is a portrait series of fictional characters existing in dramatic and mysterious narratives. With little more than a facial expression and a few simple words, Excerpts explores the world of modern mythologies in the making.

Artist Bio: Janelle Carbajal is an artist and illustrator best known for her realistic poetical portraits and eerie narrative creations. She received a BFA in painting and printmaking from the University of Southern California and has since produced art for children’s books, graphic novels, and album covers. Heavily inspired by the myths, folktales, and superstitions she grew up hearing in her Mexican-American household, Janelle often features unearthly characters throughout her work.
