Telling a Story: Words & Images

Art Workshop: Make a Theater Book
Saturday, September 23rd,  3 pm
Peninsula Center Library
Community Room
701 Silver Spur Road

Whether it was because her mother was a voracious reader, or that she named her daughter after a character in a book, artist Laurel Koss is a lifelong lover of books and the pictures they form in her imagination. This exhibition presents the happy interplay she feels between words and images in mixed media collages. Book are “containers for words” but can words be contained? A story or poem calls to you and flies from the page to stirs something inside and then never leaves you.
Laurel’s work explores the communion between a writer, artist, and the work.

Laurel studied calligraphy in England and the practice of paper-making, bookbinding, and other art techniques in California. She teaches art to children and adults throughout Los Angeles at libraries, museums, schools, and hospitals.
