Celebrating the Beauty We See
with Kathie Reis & Susan Whiting

Opening Reception Saturday, January 8, 2-4pm

About the Artists:
Kathie Reis is a native Californian and has always been attracted to art. Majoring in art in high school and college, her favorite subjects are portraits, but she also enjoys painting landscapes, seascapes, horses and other animals. Years ago, she started painting Western themed subjects including Native Americans. A Native American visiting Kathie’s studio on an art tour, was moved by her Native American paintings, and told her that her paintings “brought them back to life”. After speaking to her about how we all should be respectful to our earth, wind, water and land, her gave her a blessing and a sage packet to bless her home.

Kathie is a member of the Palos Verdes Art Center, The Artists’ Studio of Palos Verdes, the Torrance Art Guild and the president of the Peninsula Artist’s.

Kathie continues to show her work in area show and wins numerous awards in these competitions.

Susan Whiting:
As an artist, my work celebrates the joy of human connections with people, animals and nature. Favorite themes include children, pets, fantasy and romance. Having spent eight years as a Disney artist, I continue to be inspired and influenced by Norman Rockwell, Degas and Disney. My outdoor glass studio, surrounded by nature, affords me an atmosphere of tranquility and natural light in which to work. My oil paintings have often been classified as part of the Romantic Movement, Neo-Realism that emphasizes the classic expression of beauty, passion and spirit, as portrayed in Michelangelo’s sculpture of David, in Florence, Italy.
